Review:
I was looking for a new young adult fiction series to follow and thought it would give The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy a try as, after all, it is a classic piece of science fiction.

The main thing I loved about the book is the humorous, and sometimes mocking, tone in which it is written. The humour is classic British humour which makes fun of everything from physicists to tea. What I really like about the way it is written is that it breaks the barriers between the characters in the novel and the reader. For example, at one point, it tells the reader what to imaging through the use of camera movements. The characters are also lovable and weird - especially Marvin, the depressed robot!

At a mere, 180 pages - it is a quick read that only took me a day and a half to read. Nonetheless, I think this adds to the lighthearted nature of the book and demonstrates that it was not intended to be taken seriously. In fact, the shortness of the book is a nice break from 300 page novels and presents the story in bite-size chunks.

Rating: 8/10. Will be ordering the rest in the series!
