Review:
I made a promise to myself to "try" and look after myself more with all my assignments and drama going on around me so, I thought I would take a stab at The Shining which I have tried to read about three times before.

I mean I love the film - even though it is horrifying! On my previous attempts of reading this book, I really struggled to read the first twenty pages so was really surprised when I started to get really in to the story and characters so easily! Basically, whilst similar to the film - they are both entirely different so it felt like a whole new story!

So everyone knows, The Shining is a horror / thriller novel and it surely lives up to its reputation. I was so gripped at times I did not want to put it down and ended up reading until past midnight. The book was not as gory as I was expecting but - what I think is great - is that the details King has included, leave it up to your imagination to imagine the gore. This makes it even more engaging and exciting to read.

Danny is so lovable and makes a great character as he is so innocent amidst the mayhem in the hotel! His parents... I will leave you to make your mind up on them!

Rating: 9/10.
