Review:
Library of Souls is the final instalment (I believe and hope!) in the Miss Peregrime's Peculiar Children series (reviews of the other two books Miss Peregrime's Home for Peculiar Children and Hollow City can be found here and here). I have a few issues with the series in general, like that it seems to be tailor made for adaptations for films (which is not necessarily a good thing) and the story seems to have been dragged out over three books just for the sake of it.
Anyway...
Library of Souls, in my opinion, is a good read if you do not want to think too much and just want to lose yourself in a book for a few hours. As I have finally finished all of my university work (yay!) and am super tired, I needed a book that was easy to read and did not require too much effort. Library of Souls was therefore perfect!
Whilst the plot line is dragged out considerably (like all of the books) it allowed all of the characters to find resolutions to their problems and develop. There are also some great, detailed fighting scenes! These were a great improvement on the events in the previous books.
Riggs' signature feature of weird, black and white images have again been included. However, the novelty of them (for me at least) have worn off and I ended up skipping most of them as I was eager to finish the book and reach it's ever so obvious ending.
Rating: 6/10. Read for the sake of finishing the series...
