Review:
Okay so I was not a big fan of the first book in the Divergent series (which you can read here) but I watched the filmed and loved it.
A film that is better than the book? Who would have thought it! Therefore when the new film came out, I wanted to watch it. But I wanted to give the books another shot...

One thing I do like about these books are that they do not require you to think too much and you can just switch off. That is not to say that the books are simple, they are just easy to read and easy to get through. Similarly, the plot itself was nothing special as, at times, I felt as though it was just dragging with no real direction or sense of structure. However, I did love the big text in my edition and the short chapters; it makes you feel like you are getting somewhere with a book. I even managed to read it in two days! Even though I did find myself skim reading at points...

In Insurgent we discover that the characters are much more complex and dimensional compared to Divergent. This is especially evident in the secrets Tris and Four keep from each other and how this impacts their relationship, in both a negative and positive way. I do love a bit of emotional turmoil.
Rating: 6/10. Nothing special, but an easy read.
