Title: A Dance With Dragons 1: Dreams and Dust
Author: George R. R. Martin
Publisher: Harper Voyager
Publication Date: 15th March 2012
Genre: Dark Fantasy
Summary:
New wars are raging in the North and East.
With a Kingslayer on the run, a dragon princess without her dragons and a bastard son about to rule, there is never any rest when playing the Game of Thrones.
Review:
A Dance With Dragons 1: Dreams and Dust is very much the same as all of the other books in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. However, where I got bored and tired of the plot and characters in the other books; this installment seems to be picking up... at long last!
Whilst the plot is still somewhat slow and at times confusing (the events in this book overlap and happen at the same time as A Feast for Crows - my review of which is here), the characters stories are actually going somewhere. I actually found myself intrigued by Tyrion's story-line for once as he sets sail for new waters!
The one thing I do like about George R. R. Martin's writing style is how all the characters story-lines are intertwined and woven together in such a careful and thoughtful way with events happening at the same or different times. This not only challenges you, as a reader, but means that characters that you thought were gone, can come back and make an appearance in someone else's story. It really shows how much care and attention has been put into these books... even if it does make them unnecessarily long and laboriousness.
Rating: 7/10.

As I am back in boring England spending my evenings watching Netflix with no boyfriend to distract me, hopefully I will be able to read more books and post more!
