Peter Grant is back in the fourth installment in the Rivers of London series, in which we find our heroic, magical Policeman venturing South of the River to Elephant and Castle.

Review:
When I originally posted my review of the first installment of the series, Rivers of London, (you can find my review here) I had no intention of writing any for the subsequent books, as I felt it was such a good series. However, even though the series started with such optimism; I really struggled with this installment and felt it was necessary to write a follow-up.

Where at first the idea of a magical division within the Police force was refreshing and different; for me, however, it is getting tiring as I feel Aaronovitch is using the same simple plot formula with each installment. This really effected my enjoyment of the book and, in turn, made me struggle to get in to it. I mean, can they just catch the Faceless Man already?! PLEASE?!

I found the only redeeming factor in the book, the funny and witty protagonist, Peter Grant. I feel that he is relatable to readers, well developed and a great narrative voice. Similarly, his tongue in cheek dialogue and narrative is well executed and kept me turning the pages.

However, to give Aaronvitch credit; there are no moody Twilight vampires yet...

Rating: 5/10. Good but losing it's spark...
