Review:
I started this book in April 2014, got sixty pages in and gave up. It has been sitting on my bookshelf ever since. Annoyingly, I hate leaving books unfinished so with a great sigh, I picked up To Kill a Mockingbird again and trudged through.

I mean it was an awful book, it was - to put it bluntly - just plain boring. Reading the reviews on the back I think Truman Capote was a bit biased in saying Harper Lee's (who was one of his closest friends) book was a "very fine novel" and a "touching book; and so funny, so likeable," - don'tcha think?

I can see why this book has been so controversial in the past though as it deals with a lot of race and class issues in society, that at the time of publication were probably not most welcome. Consequently, the book found itself on several banned book lists. However, whilst it is boring, I think that it does discuss these issues in a refreshing and subtle way.

Rating: 3/10. Not as good as I had hoped.
