Review:
I have not had much success with "classic" books in the past, but I was pleasantly surprised about how easy to read this book was and emotionally gripping it was. However, I am not going to lie, it was extremely hard work to get in to, but once you get past the first one hundred pages; you just want to carry on reading and reading and reading...
One of the reasons I loved this book is because of the characters. Normally, characters like Tess, would get on my nerves, a lot. She is sad, depressed and a bit pitiful. However, she is such a strong character and takes whatever life throws at her; it is quite inspiring (even if she did get a bit silly towards the end...). I mean if you could wait for someone you love for over a year, without hearing from them - you are the strongest person ever and, quite frankly, deserve a medal. I mean, I can barely last a day or two without demanding a Skype call with my long-distance boyfriend! Awks.
I do no think I am ever going to find a classic book, I loved as much as I do this book and I do not even know why I loved it so much. It is definitely one of the first books I have actually really enjoyed in a long time!
Rating: 9/10. Good job Thomas Hardy! :)
