Review:
After I read the first compendium of this series (you can read my review here), I have been dying to sink my teeth into the next batch of comics in this series!
I may have just used loads of zombie-related puns but words cannot describe how good these comics are! Once you get into the story line and the format of reading comics, you just want more and more and it will take you no time at all to get through the 1,068 pages of gore, horror and grizzly deaths.
Unlike the last compendium I read, most of the events in this one have not taken place in the TV series yet. Although major parallels are apparent; they are so different! However, a little bit of me hopes that they try and stay different as the comics deserve credit in their own right and the events that take place are so heart-wrenching and terrifying that, although the TV is amazing, I do not think they could pull it off! Soz!
Ilove Kirkmans' lack of fear in destroying relationships and killing off much loved characters. I guess this is what makes it such an engaging read which is so hard to put down! As soon as you, and the characters, get comfortable Kirkman throws a spanner in the works and destroys the safe haven built up around you so you are constantly asking yourself 'What next?' and waiting for the next zombie related disaster.
I could not post about The Walking Dead comics again without (again) mentioning how amazing the graphics are! I especially love the double-spread pages as they really highlight the talents of the artists.
Rating: 10/10. Where is compendium three?!
