Review:
I brought this book many, many months ago and I have been working up the energy to actually sit down and get on with reading it. After my ordeal with Sense and Sensibility (you can read my review here), I wanted a nice easy read which I would actually enjoy. I therefore decided to finally read this beast (by this I mean HUGE) book...
I love The Walking Dead (you can read my review of the spin-off book The Walking Dead: The Rise of the Governor here) so when I found out you can buy the comics in a compendium installments; I was pretty chuffed.
As I have never read comics before; it was a new experience. I was particularly surprised at how fast paced and exciting the plot was! The plot is literally non-stop! What I really loved about the comic was the excruciating detail that was included in the artwork. The care and attention which goes into the comic strips is amazing and really made having a huge collection in one book so special.
Whilst the TV series is based on this comic book collection, there are certain differences between the original comic and the programme. At some points I couldn't quite understand how the TV programme was so different to the original material but this made reading the book so much more exciting as it was all new and there were so many surprises! Fans will certainly not be disappointed!
The only downside is if, like me, you sit crossed legged whilst reading - you will soon loose the feeling in your legs as it's pretty hefty...
Rating: 10/10. You are not a true Walking Dead fan unless you have read the comics! I will definitely be buying the other compendiums.
You can buy The Walking Dead: Compendium One from Amazon here.
